【摘要】:Waxesdonotgothroughasharpsolid-liquidphasechangewhenheatedandthereforedonothaveatruemeltingpoint.Asthetemperaturerises,waxesgraduallysoftenorbecomelessviscous.Forthisreason,thedeterminationofthesofteningpointmustbemadebyanarbitrarybutcloselydefinedmethodiftestvaluesaretobereproducible.Thistestisusefulindeterminingtheconsistencyofwaxes,andasoneelementinestablishingtheuniformityofshipmentsorsourceofsupply.Thistestmethodhasbeenfoundsuitableforalltypesofwaxesincludingparaffin,microcrystallinepolyethylene,andnaturalwaxes.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheASTMdroppingpointforwaxes.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
