【摘要】:Pitchdoesnotgothroughasolid-liquidphasechangewhenheated,andthereforedoesnothaveatruemeltingpoint.Asthetemperatureisraisedpitchgraduallysoftensorbecomeslessviscous.Forthisreason,thedeterminationofthesofteningpointmustbemadebyanarbitrary,butcloselydefined,methodifthetestvaluesaretobereproducible.Thistestmethodisusefulindeterminingtheconsistencyofpitchesasoneelementinestablishingtheuniformityofshipmentsorsourcesofsupply.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesofteningpointofpitcheshavingsofteningpointsintherangefrom50to180Cbythistestmethod,andgivesresultscomparabletothoseobtainedbyTestMethodD2319above176F(80C).1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
